This is the fourth instalment in an old series that originally released between 2008 and 2011. I never saw this one but it can fire up some nostalgia for the 2000s, when browser based physics games were the big trend with all manner of stickman games and some notable stars. Angry Birds was probably the biggest franchise born of that era.
JellyCar is as squishy as it sounds. Drive about bouncing every which way, flipping over, triggering moving platforms and gateways. Pushing through moving gears. Speeding along conveyors. Getting yeeted great distances. Riding on moving balls. Sometimes being crushed into oblivion.
There are six JellyCar Worlds, each containing eight levels. With two more worlds already planned for future updates. Reaching the end of a world unlocks a new game mechanic, such as inflating the car to be much larger, or using a balloon to float up. Those skills will then appear in parts of some other world levels. To aid further exploration for collectables and secret exits. I’m not sure how many skills there are so later worlds may unlock something else. Every level has challenges and a mix of things to find which can be used to customise said jelly car.

It also has the classic long jump mode. Not simply a jump, there are moving items in there to aid or hinder progress depending on trajectory. Four skills can be used once unlocked. It felt good to reach the 500m mark using only inflate, don’t know how much further is possible but I’m guessing a lot.
I think it’s fairly obvious if I’m going to enjoy these type of games from a quick look so I’m not going to ramble on any more. JellyCar Worlds plays very smoothly, no complaints from me. It’s just down to price. I’m playing through Apple Arcade so no worries there.
Available from App Store, Steam, console and mobile stores.
