There are a couple of games which don’t have firm confirmations yet. Over the Hill is an exploration driving game from Art of Rally developer Funselektor Labs. In their Steam FAQ it says, “Will there be a Mac version? It’s on our list, but we can’t 100% confirm it yet. Fingers crossed!” The other game is action RPG Path of Exile 2, already in early access for Windows on Steam. In an old FAQ they said, “Unfortunately Path of Exile 2 will not be available on MacOS at the start of Early Access, but we’re keen to add support for this platform as soon as possible.” If you’re interested in these games it might pay off to be vocal about it.

Let’s move on to some speculation.

Two big games, one recent and one coming out soon, are prime candidates for a Mac port. Death Stranding 2 (2025) from Kojima Productions, and Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem. Both developers have had successful releases from earlier games in their franchises; particularly Capcom who has put out four Resident Evil games on macOS. From my own experience the RE Engine, that powers most Capcom games, has performed very well on Mac. It’s a shame there has been no announcements for Mac, but there is some hope.

Of course there is another big game that continues to spark conversation. Fortnite. I noticed a renewed effort from fans to get a Mac version, even via petition. I do play Fortnite from time to time using GeForce Now, it still has charm. At this point I’m not even sure what Epic Games hope to gain from not putting Fortnite back on Mac. I guess they don’t care about whatever money it was making. However, considering how often people mention it, I would have thought there was a fair bit of profit to be made. There’s a real chance that Fortnite’s popularity may wane before Epic ever get what they want from this stance, and ultimately lose out on a lot of relatively easy money. Maybe I’m wrong, only Epic have the numbers. Do I care about a new Fortnite port?… Not really.

What would I like to see come to Mac?

On the more realistic end of the spectrum I would happily see more games from Capcom come to Mac. Pragmata looks quite cool. A third person sci-fi action adventure. You’ve got a super suit and a companion that hacks enemies. I’d also be interested in the new Onimusha game, Way of the Sword. A Japanese dark fantasy themed hack and slash. If Capcom are actually doing Devil May Cry remakes those would be of interest too.

On the smaller side there is a lovely building game called Tiny Glade, where you design a ye olde style mini village, built from the ground up. The devs have shown some interest in making a Mac version but it’s a huge maybe if it would happen.

Now for a total fantasy game wish. How about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Or give me a genuinely good arcade racer, there’s not that many these days. I’ll settle for Gran Turismo 8, Forza Horizon 6 would be fine. Better yet, get Rockstar to make a new Midnight Club game and bring it to Mac day one. Or get the band back together for a sequel to Burnout Paradise. It’s a genre that needs to make a comeback.

That’s enough of that. You got your list.

As the title suggests, I think most Mac users will be looking for a few more big release announcements before declaring 2026 a good year for Mac gaming. Speaking as more of an indie gamer, I think things are shaping up nicely. Regardless, many eyes will be on the WWDC in June.

These games are a shortlist of my personal choices. If I’ve made any big omissions feel free to write an angry message at me on any of the mishmash socials and I’ll do my best to ignore it – links at the top of the page.
